Greetings
Welcome to the Beautiful city of study, Okayama The 45th annual meeting for the Japanese Society of Oral Implantology

Chairman
Department of Oral Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine,
Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Prof. Takuo Kuboki

I would like to share my deep appreciation for being the chair of the 45th Meeting of the Japanese Society for Oral Implantology, as well as for the great effort of many officials including those of Okayama Prefecture and Okayama City. On September, 21st, we will have the ethical committee seminar and specialist education course in Okayama Symphony Hall. On September, 22nd and 23rd, we will have special lectures, symposia, oral and poster presentations and company exhibition in several hotels and convention center around the Okayama Station. We, the organizing committee, are making all preparations and paying close attention to avoid any inconvenience.

Japan is facing an ultra-ageing of the population, and the increase in oral function is a major objective that is directly connected with the quality of life of the population. The promotion of health, prevention of nursing care and frail based on elderly's “food” has become the major challenge currently. Oral implants, in such a super-aged society, are believed to be a big solutions if used properly and effectively used; however, it may be harmful to patients if used improperly or without responsibility. Through this meeting, I wish to share the recent innovations in oral implantology and discuss about the problems and countermeasures of this aged society.  I do hope to have many people gathered together and re-think about the fundaments of oral implants.

Okayama is located in the key points for transportation in the Chu-Shikoku area, and is blessed with seafood and fruits and vegetables. Okayama is also home of one of the three largest gardens, the Kourakuen, and is blessed with many tourist destinations including the birthplace of Takehisa Yumeji. In addition, Okayama is also neighbor of the internationally famous tourist city called Kurashiki, which I believe can fully meet the needs of the members of this society.

Finally, since it will be a big holiday, we expect the city to be very crowded. Although we are preparing all hospitalities in Okayama Prefecture, Okayama city and Kurashiki city, accommodations may full depending on the number of tourists visiting Okayama during the holiday. Therefore, we strongly recommend all members to reserve your accommodation at your earliest convenience.

I do hope that you fully enjoy not only the academic activities, but also the autumn season in the beautiful city of study, Okayama.
